cruft is the right word here. Things have not properly been cleaned up after the support for the XFree86 loader was removed. xf86_ansic.h should have been reworked to: a. include the relevant headers. b. map any xf86* system functions to the libc ones. c. the wrappers should have been removed (or only kept where really necessary). So I'm still not quite clear if we should try to be bw compatible to X versions still relying on the internal loader or scrap all this.
