X1400 on Dell Inspiron 6400
Moving this discussion on-list. I patched rhd_id.c with the attached patches (Inspiron6400.diff and X1400-RV515.diff), and now X gets further into the startup process. Now I get new errors: my framebuffer has not been "mapped" into rhdPtr->FbBase by xf86MapPciMem(), though rhdAtomBIOSAllocateFbScratch(), which uses RHDAtomBIOSFunc instead of an X function, succeeds! Further down, I get a message from the RHDLVTMAInit() function saying that only M56 devices are supported. If I comment this check out, I get a little bit further: instead of X shutting down, I get a black screen. There is also a new error message in the X log: "CRTC 1 is active without outputs"... this is probably because non-M56 devices are unsupported though, hey? I hope that this information is helpful... #!/jon -- Jonathan Anderson jonathan.anderson@ieee.org
My e-mails don't seem to be getting through to the radeonhd@opensuse.org list... grrrrr. Anyway, I've attached what my VGA output looks like after doing the steps listed below. Sorry for the quality, but my camera phone is all I have handy. The point is, I get two images (both badly distorted) on my CRT, and each one has a tiny resolution (I think it's 1024x768) no matter what I put in my xorg.conf. I hope this helps somehow... #!/jon p.s. Do you have any idea why my e-mails aren't showing up on the list? On September 26, 2007, Jonathan Anderson wrote:

Great. Is there an ETA on laptop panels? I'd love to be able to test this driver in my daily usage.

Well, then, I'm sorry for the spam (sending the same thing several times, from different addresses, because I didn't think it was getting through)! #!/jon -- Jonathan Anderson jonathan.anderson@ieee.org

We're trying to go as fast as we can here, i hope that the panel info from bios can be retrieved tomorrow, if not during the weekend. Luc Verhaegen.
