Radeon R5xx 3D programming guide
AMD is pleased to announce the release the R5xx Family 3D Programming Guide. In addition to 3D programming information on the R5xx family, this document details many of the changes from the R3xx and R4xx families where applicable. Please be kind to our gracious host, freedesktop.org; in the interests of getting this out tonight, I wasn't able to get it on the AMD servers before the weekend. http://www.x.org/docs/AMD/R5xx_Acceleration_v1.1.pdf Alex Deucher alexander.deucher@amd.com Open Source Community Development AMD Graphics Products Group -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

Awesome news! -- Thomas E. Spanjaard tgen@netphreax.net
Hi, thanks to AMD for making it available, and to you in taking part of it. My next videocard purchase will be an AMD again after my current X700. BTW, this is the most encouraging introduction: "The R5xx family builds on the R3xx architecture. As such, much of this guide is applicable to R3xx and R4xx chips as well with some caveats. Where applicable, generational differences are noted." I hope it gives the ATI developers the needed info to match or even surpass the fglrx performance. Does this mean that the R6xx family also has similar programming information? And if so, when can we expect 3d or accelerated 2d (xvideo for instance) on the R6xx? ...just out of curiosity ;) I wish everyone good work! tommy -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFHv/rSgpUvhTIUBAERAu4RAJ0Z1v87Ib/xJbf4rvQmfB+FGOthEQCgoL3b sMBisRhDnZgAy7j/LSw8ntU= =MtBO -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

R600 is substantially different. We are still evaluating how we are going to release 3D information for r600; code or programming guide or some combination. Tcore which we will be releasing soon will have information on setting up the CP and using 2D emulation via 3D for r600. Alex
I wish everyone good work!

I'll sure be waiting anxiously :) Keep on the great work tommy -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFHwFy1gpUvhTIUBAERAkDwAKCedO9Vnz2urbgIs18SK0krhKLk7gCgomAa RhMjimuJCz81CKRZ3hi0GOw= =Hc/6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
