I've been updating the driver regularly for the past few days, this morning I finally got X to start with nothing attached to the VGA port, but the panel was blank. I could log in remotely, but restarting Xorg with the vesa driver did not change the display, it was still blank. I had to reboot to get a working display. Laptops typically have both a BIOS setup option that says which display output to enable at bootup, and a button to switch between display configurations. I don't know if these settings have an effect on the detection done by the "conntest" program. Anyway, in my case, the BIOS was set to Panel+VGA Machine specs: Lenovo T60, Type: 2008-CTO Panel: 1400x1050 VGA port lspci -n : 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400 [1002:7145] rhd_conntest results With no VGA monitor attached: Checking connectors on 0x7145, 0x17AA, 0x2006 (@01:00:00): Load Detection: RHD_OUTPUT_NONE HotPlug: RHD_HPD_NONE DDC: RHD_DDC_2 LVDS Info: 18bits, dual link, LDI Panel found. Please remove the monitor section from your log file. This should make the driver decide on the correct mode. Also, your panel is lying about the modes it supports directly. My mode validation should be more picky about which modes it treats as fixed modes as panels do lie. And it is one of those lied about that the driver is trying to set now and which isn't working directly. Thanks, Luc Verhaegen. I did this and I still get a blank screen, but according to the log file, Xorg is starting up with 1400x1050x60Hz: (II) RADEONHD(0): Setting up "1400x1050" (1400x1050@60.0Hz) I logged in blindly and ran xdpyinfo from the console and verified that X is running at 1400x1050. New Xorg log file attached. If you like, I can also send the Xorg log file from when I run it with the vesa driver, where I do get working video. Maybe this can help you figure out which modes are actually supported. I don't think simply telling my panel to stop lying will be very effective :) _____ Dofri

Hrm, this is worrying. Need to go and continue testing on other mobilities first though, this might be related (but it might also be unrelated ... ) Thanks, Luc Verhaegen. I might add that I do get working video on the Panel at 1280x1024 (My Panel is 1400x1050), but not at 1400x1050, 1024x768, 800x600, or 640x480. And changing between the vesa driver and radeonhd works fine without rebooting. _____ Dofri -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org

Ok, i would say that this does indeed point at a broken pixelclock. Luc Verhaegen. SUSE/Novell X Driver Developer. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
