: Hi Matthias, Dariem!
I have tried to build various radeonhd version and launch xorg 1.6 with DRI "on". Here is the results: 1.2.0 - not builds 1.2.1 - not builds 1.2.2 - builds, black screen 1.2.3 - builds, black screen 1.2.4 - builds, black screen latest git - builds, black screen
I remember that in Ubuntu 8.04 the radeonhd worked fine with xorg 1.5 and DRI "on", also it worked fine with OpenGL applications.
The xf86-video-radeon works with xorg 1.5/1.6 and DRI "on", but in some OpenGL application the screen gots messed up due to object track showing (well I don't know how to explain this in english). Radeonhd didn't have such problem, that's why I'm interested in using radeonhd driver...
3D is handled by a separate 3d driver in mesa, so this is likely a mesa bug rather than ddx bug. You might try a newer 3d driver. There have been significant improvements there since the last mesa release.
Yup, but I wrote that I'm building latest versions of all drivers using instructions at http://www.x.org/wiki/radeon with building also latest git radeonhd driver. The other thing is that xf86-video-radeon driver actually works with DRI "on". So if this is a mesa bug than both drivers should have failed...
The rendering errors ("screen gots messed up due to object track showing") are related to the 3d driver. Whether or not you can enable the dri is a ddx issue. Alex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
