That is the same model I use, and it uses an RS600 GPU. It has never worked for me with radeonhd, it always reports the same problem: "MC not idle". Some time ago I wrote here about the issue and I said I would try to help, but time is my enemy right now and I haven' t done much.
Yup, I want to hack at it too :) Could you point me to some hacking guide for radeonhd? Or give a couple of pointers, how could I localize and solve this issue? (I have system programming background)
:-) A complex issue. There is no guide nor official documentation. What I was doing: studying radeon and radeonhd source codes and see what clues I could obtain from the first to implement in the second. AFAICS, both use MMIO to access GPU registers' addresses, so it seems it can be done. Till now, I think there are some problems with addresses pointing to RS690 registers instead of those of RS600 (rhd_regs.h). Someone said RS600 uses the same addresses R5xx does, with a minor difference, but I haven't checked it out. If you have the time...well, good luck. best regards, Dariem -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: radeonhd+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: radeonhd+help@opensuse.org
