Hey, please note this CfP for the FOSDEM cross-distribution miniconference! This is the perfect place to push cross-distro initiatives. Talks for this miniconference should have a subject matter that is relevant for distribution developers; for example, they could be about methods for packaging software, the organization and workflow of distributions, configuration management systems as relevant to distribution maintainers, etc. An affiliation with a specific distribution is not a requirement for a speaker. As was the case last year, during the coming edition the cross-distribution developer's room will have two rooms for two days. Interested speakers should send a proposal to the dist2011@lists.fosdem.org mailinglist. A proposal must include: - The title of the talk, - A short abstract, - The name of the speaker, - A short bio of the speaker And this no later than january 1st, 2011. Note that a paper is not a requirement. If there are more proposals than available time slots, talks will be alotted after discussion among representatives of the various distributions on the dist2011 mailinglist. Distributions are kindly invited to forward this call for talks to their relevant mailinglists. Additionally, we would welcome if distributions who will participate in the miniconference will let their intentions known on the mailinglist, so we can announce that at the proper time. I would love to see a cross-distro talk from the ppl working on the Red Hat and openSUSE boot infrastructure (dracut and systemd). Who's working on that? And our LXDE master (Andrea) might want to talk together with Christoff about their work upstream? How about a MeeGo/openSUSE BuildService practices talk? We just had a conference which was all about collaboration - we can and should fill that track with openSUSE+$OtherDistro talks :D I bet others can come up with more ideas so put on your thinking hat :D Let's just brainstorm first, then see if we can get the peeps involved to the conference or find replacements. There is travel budget and a large number of hugs if needed to make sure this track is green - we have a reputation to uphold! cookies for ideas, Jos (who is sitting in an airplane, trying to ignore his stomach, not enjoying the turbulence which interferes with typing but greatly enjoying Buddha-Bar IX and wondering why he not know that music?)
