[opensuse-project] Call for 2 additional volunteers
Hi, As announced at oSC14 the funding for locally produced marketing materials is back. To administer the program the openSUSE board is looking for 2 additional volunteers to work with Jim Henderson to administer the process in a mostly autonomous manner. The idea is that the team handles the process as independently from the board as possible. This will include researching the requests and evaluating a request against the guidelines (to be published soon). Sometime the answer to a request may be no, at other times it may be better to ship a booth box. There is some financial responsibility involved in this role. Please reply to this thread or send a message to the board mailing list if you would like to be involved in this process. Thanks, Your openSUSE Board -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
I am up for it.

Apparently you got quick 2 answers ;-) so I just add an idea (I had while reading this) for a next time : when you (board) call for volonteers on such a mission, would it be possible to give a bit more precision ? (like the context and the timing = how many hours / week or month) it could help ;-) ty

Apologies for the delayed response from me on this - I had to go out of town on family business, and didn't have connectivity for a few days. Personally, I wouldn't mind having an idea of others who might be willing to volunteer - we're starting with a couple people in addition to myself, but we might need to ramp up if demand is higher than expected. When I talked with the board about this team, I had similar questions. The expectation is that the team won't have to invest a lot of time, and the guidelines are going to be pretty straightforward. We may tweak things a little bit once we've had some experience in fulfilling requests, but like you, I've got a fairly limited amount of time, so I wanted to commit only if I was relatively certain that I'd be able to respond to requests in a reasonable amount of time. The number of hours depends on how many events are occurring, and right now, my sense is that we don't entirely know, so we're starting out relatively small (3 people), and if we need more volunteers, we'll ramp up - hence my wanting to find out if others are interested, even if they're not brought in right away to get things started. I would like to help you too...
