Greetings,
A few months back, I enquired about which Novell chapter was alive and well. Incidentally, only Novell Users International in France.
Novell told me that NUI was discontinued *six* years back.
According to French Law, nui.fr is alive and well though.
We will have our Annual Extraordinary Meeting next 17th December and one of the articles will be the change of name.
This has already been discussed with our members and we have thought of:
opensuse76
and use the special TLD for the site: opensuse76.fr
Formerly, I could ask Novell to use their Trade Mark, what is the policy nowadays please?
Cheers, Jimmy

Hi Jimmy,
The use of the openSUSE Trademarks is covered by the openSUSE Trademark Guidelines
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Trademark_guidelines
The short version is, if you want to call your organisation anything including the 'openSUSE Marks', you will need to ask permission from the openSUSE Board who jointly administer the marks with SUSE. You can reach via board@opensuse.org & permission@suse.com (I'd recommend emailing board@ as permission@ gets a lot of spam and non-openSUSE requests so we sometimes miss valid requests to there)
Our primary concern will be wanting to ensure that the new name clearly demonstrates the relationship between NUI and our Project, and also that the new name of NUI is clearly NOT confusable with the openSUSE Project (as NUI is not representative of the openSUSE)
Given those general issues, your email asking for permission will work best if it includes an explanation behind the meaning of "76" and how the use of 'openSUSE76' avoids those concerns. Choosing a name that better works within those guidelines might be a better option. A broad summary of what NUI.fr does would also help us get a good picture of exactly what we are giving permission over.
Hope this helps,
