Hi Again thank you for participating in the search for a slogan for the openSUSE project. We ended the vote last Friday. You were able to vote between nine pre-selected slogan. We did choose the slogans based on your feedback and with the intention to avoid any trademark violations. The winner is “openSUSE – Linux for open minds” with 64 votes - Alberto Passalaqua. I really think that this type of democratic voting for the slogan is a really bad idea, partly because (i) it doesn't take into consideration the potential negative reaction people might have to it, and (ii) because democratic decisions like this end up just being a mish-mash of the options. There have been very good arguments raised from several people against the use of this particular slogan. What of them? The only good argument, that is not just matter of opinion, is related to voting. Missing option "None of above" so people have chance to disapprove all proposals and look for another round of proposals. Though, if time is short and some slogan has to be created this should be avoided. I wouldn't worry as slogans have limited time they can be used.
