[opensuse-project] RE: How to be a contributor to OpenSuse
Is there a way to get help on how to contribute to OpenSuse? I am a computer major college student and I dont even know how to begin. A good question and something we'd surely want to document better in/for
the future.
It really depends a lot on two things:
- - what you would like to do and have fun with
- - what your skills are or where you'd like to learn
There is a number of domains where people may contribute:
- - translation
- - documentation (wiki)
- - testing the upcoming 11.0 and filing bug reports
- - helping out on mailing-list, IRC, web forums
- - software development (C, C++, Ruby, Java, ...) in various projects
- - packaging (Build Service, Packman)
... and probably a few more.
What are you interested in ?
The lowest entry barrier is probably with testing the upcoming 11.0,
although the better the bug reports, the easier it is for the developers
and packagers to fix them :)
cheers
