[opensuse-project] Most popular forums
If I go out to the Communicate page I see two forums listed as the most popular forums. http://en.opensuse.org/Communicate I don't understand why the Novell sponsored openSUSE forums are not on the front page. It is a very popular and useful forum for openSUSE. It has an NNTP interface and a newly designed web interface. http://forums.novell.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11 And it is sponsored and staffed by Novell and community members. While I understand why SUSEforums.net is there, I feel that http://forums.novell.com/forumdisplay.php?f=11 should be listed in place of SUSELinuxSupport.de if we are going to limit it to two. -- Joe Harmon <jharmon@novell.com> Novell, Inc. Why don't you just add them to the page. I am not a forum user so, I really can not speak to that topic. But if the Novell listing is a real good forum. I think it should be listed. Hi Joe Is it. Interesting, it's more or less 10 years I'm using and contributing heavily to (open)S[uU]SE and it's the first time ever that I hear about that forum. I'm not interested in using web forums so that might be a reason ;) Note that we pretty much discarded having a Novell-sponsored forum because it would be forbidden to link to the most important community package repositories (such as Packman) because of the potential legal problems involved in doing so (uncrippled packages).
I don't think it was ever the goal to limit it to two. It's just that suseforums.net and suselinuxsupport.de are the best known and largest English speaking openSUSE community forums. As said, first time I hear about Novell hosting an openSUSE forum. Good to know I guess ;) "I don't understand why [...]" => I don't understand why no one ever sent an email like yours on this list before. That being done, I think we should add it to the list on the wiki. The newsgroups were listed for a long time on Communicate page. Although, not on the top portion of the screen.
Not right now, but when Communicate page get cluttered again, someone will object. IMHO, to prevent future confusion, like this, on main Communicate page should be listed only categories, like mail, newsgroups, forums etc. -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

It's not so much a forum as it is a pretty face for Novell's nntp server.
That being done, I think we should add it to the list on the wiki. Any objections ?
