[opensuse-project] Coordinating an ISP specific mirror
Not entirely certain if this is the right list. I'm a loyal user/fanboy of the Sonic.net <http://www.sonic.net> ISP here in Northern California and I've recently found out they run a mirror for their users of some major projects (debian, openbsd, freebsd, ubuntu, etc). I've asked, and they're up for mirroring a subset of what's located on download.opensuse.org so I had a couple of questions for the folks in charge of openSUSE distrubution: * Would mirroring of distribution/ and repositories/ be enough? * The mirror is only accessible to Sonic.net subscribers, would it be possible to update the MirrorBrain rules to direct Sonic.net IPs to their internal mirror? updates/ are usually more important for users. If you check rsync rsync.opensuse.org:: - we offer a couple of modules depending on the disk space available, e.g. opensuse-hotstuff-160gb.
* The mirror is only accessible to Sonic.net subscribers, would it be possible to update the MirrorBrain rules to direct Sonic.net IPs to their internal mirror? If they have an unique IP-prefix, it should be possible. Let the mirror admin contact admin@opensuse.org.

More specifically: All customers IP addresses who can access the mirror must be within the same autonomous system as the mirror or within the same network prefix. ftp://ftp.sonic.net/mirrors/ is dual-homed, or it's two separate boxes -- it should be treated as two different mirrors if not the whole autonomous system has access to both IPs. So, either all IPs in AS7065 must have access to the mirror, or at least all IPs from 208.201.224.0/19 must have access to 208.201.249.240 and all IPs from 76.191.248.0/21 to 76.191.251.13. If that's the case, no problem. Peter-- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
