openSUSE community/users - education and/or change
Dear fellow Geekos, Reading all the opinions regarding the rebranding initiative and the governance, including previous similar threads, there seems to be a pattern. It is about a (vast) group of users (no matter whether they are community members or not), who “are confused”; “do not know to whom to address issue X, Y, Z”; “seek for help where they should not”; “mix SUSE and openSUSE”; “do not know how to write either of the names”; and so on. If the above is identified as an issue, it can be solved in two ways – changing (by simplifying, removing, renaming, etc.) and educating. Of course, both can be applied simultaneously. That is why, I decided to start a new thread – about addressing the knowledge gaps amongst our current and future users. I would love to read your thoughts on the subject. Of course, if other communication channels are preferred for this type of discussion, please let me know. PS1: This is my first time posting here, so if I did not honor all the rules, please let me know. PS2: The intention here is not to blame someone, but to initiate a discussion with the respective action items.
