[opensuse-project] openSUSE Team's Page Template and organization
Hello , As we all know , how well the teams perform and render their Best. But thats not 100% of what it has to be , I mean the basic purposes are completely fulfilled but the scope of other utilities like encouraging new contributors and working effectively as Inter-Teams is a matter of concern and not performed successfully .So in regard to that , I have created a draft [1] mentioning What basic things are needed in a particular Team Page , at the same time made another layout of how the new TEAM page will look after complete organization and having the fucntioning teams in hand (awaited ). What I need you all do now is to come with your suggestions i.e what extra does the page needs , how to make the page as user friendly as it can be for the new-comers , Is the 'Contact Us' link fine for Inter-Teams to work on or something special or something different is needed :) keeping the new contributors in mind. I hope I made myself clear or maybe my presentation is not good :) , to make it clear . In short , Just discuss what you feel is required for this case and then we come up with an effective approach for a good Communication amongst us and the outer world ;) [1] http://en.opensuse.org/User:Wwarlock/POC -- Regards SJ(Shayon) openSUSE http://en.opensuse.org/User:wwarlock Twitter:ShayonM -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

A good first draft, just a little bit to latin for me ;) I propose to include the standard team structure in your draft from the beginning: [[Category:Teams]] {Team} I would add as well sections called "open tasks" and "how to participate" (or "how to join"). The purpose of the team page is IMO for a community member to figure out which time she likes to join. Andreas P.S. As discussed in the last IRC meeting, I removed some obsolete team pages and added to some an "outdated" message. -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

One thing I wouldnt really post the members there. Only the person who is/feels responsible for that team. Two reasons for that: Feeling all team members there was just a numeration of links to userpages, filling mor like that means you have all time to keep that page with all datas of that members actually. second reason when u all team members there could a interested person pcik one for contact and maybe he gets not really that what he wanted ;)

IMO , the members are themselves responsible for the happening in/out the Team so each and every member related to the team should be mentioned (i dont refer to occasional contributors) .

I also thought very much like you in regard to your 'first' reason so based upon that i mentioned the link (in the page ) Under '1.1 Members' ---> "Link to Members page (separate)" that means , for example - Lets Take Art Team , then the member page would be Art Team/Members . This way the team page would have more of useful data and less of only MEMBERS ;) I personally feel there is no need to contact an individual team member rather lets ask the contributor to directly contact over the ML . And if at all he/she wishes to solve his/her doubt personally then the Members page is always there :) .

An alternative would be to link to the team on connect.opensuse.org. I think that people want to say "I'm part of this team" and we should support this, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Hello , Yeah , definetly we should support it and ask everyone to do the same . That would be in case of the Members (user) page and in Team's page i feel the above should be fine . That is ---- > Members page inside the teams page , " XYZ Team/Members " and then the list of members would be shown. Also this process will not be possible in case of Marketing Team.So it would be better just to mention or show the 'Team Lead' . ;)

ohk :)

Ohk will do it ASAP and do you mean it should be at the top , that is before the 'Team's Page Template' ?
I would add as well sections called "open tasks" and "how to participate" (or "how to join").
Awesome , go ahead (feel free to edit my page ;) ) .
The purpose of the team page is IMO for a community member to figure out which time she likes to join.
Very much correct , i missed this point !
