[opensuse-project] Seeking volunteers for the openSUSE Election Committee

With the end of 2011 quickly approaching, the period for elections will soon be upon us. One of the key elements of the openSUSE elections is the Election Committee. Without this committee the elections simply wouldn't function. Your help is needed. Volunteer and assist the Election Committee. At the end of the year, we will have elections for three board seats. Bryen Yunashko's seat is being vacated due to term limits and Pavol Rusnak and Rupert Horstkotter' are completing their first term, thus eligible to run for a second term. All board members have a limit of two consecutive terms. Election Committee members have the following responsibilities: - Review current election eligibility rules - Create a schedule for the campaign and voting periods - Work with the Membership Team to ensure that all membership applications are processed in time for voting - Verify candidate eligibility - Make appropriate announcements regarding scheduling and voting procedures - Run the election - Ensure an effective voting mechanism - Keep the board informed on progress of election planning - Resolve any post-election issues We encourage at least one member of past board election committees to join the current team in an, at least, advisory capacity. You can read more about the election process at http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Board_election. If you'd like to join the committee, please send an email to board@opensuse.org. The deadline for applications to the committee is 30th September 2011.
