Hello all,

You are letting a single thread result in a some level of a DoS (Denial of Service). Do people have such poor email-fu that they can't just ignore a thread/subject if they so wish? When reading this group in thunderbird, (which is already filtered down to the specific folders for the 'project' or ''factory' list, one thread only shows up as 1 line unless I expand it, otherwise, if I don't have time or interest, I can just skip that topic. It really isn't so difficult that a moderator should have to waste their time. It's sad that such a topic causes such high emotions -- on both sides! I suppose polarization is a sign of the times where "spaces" cater to their denizens and only show them topics which will keep them from leaving and keep them coming back. The off-topic topic didn't bother me, so much, but I'm capable of filtering (usually) to my heart's content. It some vocal group doesn't know how to do their own filtering. *sigh*. P.S. FWIW, if things got real nasty, I likely missed it, as I was no longer really following that thread... Cheers! -linda

Indeed. If it helps, I for one can absolutely refrain from posting to the factory list about this since the discussion has moved to the project and offtopic lists anyway. So if we can all agree to keep tearing at each other over there, despite not agreeing on anything else, moderating factory would no longer be necessary. I'm deliberately not sharing my personal views on the rest of what you said since I could either self censor heavily which would not add useful information or get political and kindle another branch of this debate, which I do not want. I do feel bad about playing a role in the DoS on the factory list, as you quite rightly term it already. Regards, An Anonymous Techie

Postorius can filter on a header (like subject) and put it on moderation or direct rejection. I suppose that could be the next step on the factory mail list - but I do not know what messages have been rejected. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.4 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Well in this case i'm happy to share some generalities, Several emails have been rejected from the factory list for simply being off topic, some such as the first one in this thread were even sent with a message stating that while they were being rejected as offtopic on Factory they'd be accepted on the project list (which they have). Several other emails in my opinion violated the code of conduct, for transparency and accountability I have chosen to forward them onto the board. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B
