Hi list, sorry to bring this up on the project level and I'm sorry for the 'mostly reading' users like me - to have one mail more in our inboxes, but the behaviour shown by several users over the last days and even before is just annoying me a lot and it might annoy others as well. We have a netiquette on all of our lists. You can find it here. https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailing_list_netiquette There is clearly stated, that a discussion is perfectly fine, but it shouldn't go completely off topic. Over the past month we had several cases of personal one-vs-one fights on this mailinglist or even one-vs-many. Which does not only show a very unprofessional view of our project to the outside world, but also is clearly off-topic. It's cool to discuss questions with candidates here and it's cool to discuss general aspects like this one here, which affects the whole project, on this list. What is not so nice is, if two members end up in a 1-on-1 discussion about nit picking in 10+ mails of each of them. How about a direct conversation and just remove the list from CC then. Remember that with every mail you drop here, you might use someones most valuable thing - time. If we all just work a little bit on our own attitude how we live this Netiquette and our own rules - it might become a better public forum here and in the end - way less mails to read for everyone. How cool would that one to be achieved? And without further lines, I'd just like to remember everybody that proper quoting, proper threading and proper formatting is part of the Netiquette. If you see yourself with a bad format or threading on the list, maybe even splitting up a thread unwanted, please check your mail client settings - that would be great. With all the best wishes. Hi Thorsten, I have waited for such a hint and statement by another community member.
Yes and if we review both last elections with this behaviour, every time the same guy has introduced the conflict. @ Henne + Gerald: All candidates tried all listed communication solutions as Henne listed. One Board candidate has written to the openSUSE Board because of attacks on the public mailing list. The Board didn't want to interact and has accepted this behaviour. The next Board candidate tied that with private conflict resolution. The special guy added the public mailing list again. What should the new Board candidate do as a 3rd way to interact? The openSUSE community does not want to accept that. That was the reason for the additional poll before the last election. It seems that the existing openSUSE Board wants to support this behaviour again and our openSUSE Guidelines should not be valid for this guy. I wrote in the past, that this guy is breaking German laws. Now are European laws added. Don't they count because this guy comes from UK (topic Brexit!)? One hint: He does not break only our Guidelines. I was asked this year the following by the Lead of a meetup group in Nure, berg: "Does this guy know something as a Code of Conduct? I thought, he would contribute to openSUSE. He has broken our community guidelines!" If the openSUSE Board does not want to interact, Gerald should go the next step in the direction of SUSE to interact. If we are watching this situation, I know which both candidates should not be elected. I am speaking about these ones who have been supporting this behaviour during last elections.
Best regards, Sarah

Trust me that this is on our agenda, and this did not go unnoticed by the current board. It really doesn't help if one doesn't respond to emails on this exact topic sent on behalf of the board though ;) Alternatively we could just kick all the people out without process, but that sounds like a terrible idea, don't you think. Please understand we are trying to act in project's best interest which has sadly become an unfortunate balancing act as of late. Time to think about banning people from contributing to the mailing lists after ignoring conflict resolution emails for a long enough time though, because I really don't see another way to resolve this... And let's leave Brexit to offtopic list, please. LCP [Stasiek] https://lcp.world

Hi list, hi Sarah, in one word: STOP. I will not let my reminder for Netiquette be your vehicle of continuing fingerpointing and start a war here. I will not fingerpoint at anyone and I will not allow this to happen as well. If you want to do so, please search another forum, but not this mailinglist. Thanks.
