[opensuse-project] Novell/openSUSE account cancellation
Hello, I would like to know how I can cancel my Novell/openSUSE account, having all my data removed. I looked into the Novell website, but I could not find any information on how to do that. What is the procedure to follow? Thanks for your help. With kind regards, Alberto -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Unless someone else replies with a procedure, I'll see if I can find one internally to remove the login information from the website. Please note that there are other systems where it may not be possible to remove your demographic information (such as our certification database) because we have a legal requirement to keep those records since they pertain to professional certification/testing. There's no official procedure, but I can have it taken care of for you - I just need you to send me (you can do so off-list if you like) the e- mail address associated with the account on the Novell site and I'll pass it to someone who can delete the information for you. Thanks, I have no Novell certifications, just regular openSUSE account and bugzilla account (same ID, associated to this email). Just a suggestion for the future: it would be a lot easier to add a "Delete account" functionality to the Novell login page however, as offered on many websites that require authentication. OK. I don't work with the systems (other than the certification system), so there may be others; I just wanted to disclaim that there may be places you appear in our systems that we legally have to preserve records for for various reasons. :-)

I have passed that suggestion along. I also found it odd that there wasn't a way to remove an account through the website - even though as a Novell employee, I'd rather see people stay with us. But I understand the desire and that there may be reasons to do so that don't mean "I'm leaving you". :-) Jim -- Jim Henderson Please keep on-topic replies on the list so everyone benefits -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Thanks,
I should've also said I'll just wait to hear from you off-list with that e-mail address; I access the list through gmane, so all e-mail addresses are munged by the system. That's OK. I know of the record obligations you have for certain information.

Thanks. The lack of this functionality surprised me too. I also reported it using Novell website feedback feature some time ago, but I didn't receive any reply. Without any intent to be rough with you, who are actually helping me in this, the reason of this request, however, is exactly "I'm leaving you", after years. The motivations are long to explain, and they have a lot to do with poor decisions regarding openSUSE, the recent tendency of some official community representatives to invite people to "stay quiet" when discussing of never fixed problems and so on. At this point I don't think the details are of any interest to anyone however, surely not for me, so I won't annoy you with them. Thanks for your help. I'll clean my personal page on openSUSE, remove my OBS repository and send you my email address.
