[opensuse-project] GSOC: first step as a mentor?
All, I put myself down as a potential mentor for one of the opensuse GSOC ideas. I had a student reach out to me. What are the first steps I need to do? note: Per a earlier note, I tried to go to http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/mentor/request/google/gsoc2011/opensuse and register myself as a mentor, but that page doesn't seem to exist. You need to sign up to be a mentor and have that approved.

Google is rearanging the site right now, I don't know if it's still possible to sign up to be a mentor if the site is working, but go to the main page and work down from there and you should be fine. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Greg, I didn't see a way to drill down into a mentor registration form there, so I just updated our wiki for now: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:GSOC_2011_Ideas#Create_a_testsuite_for_btrfs... I assume the student and the students proposal have to be accepted by Google before this is real. There is now a mentor registration button at the bottom of:
http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/homepage/google/gsoc2011
And I have submitted a request to be accepted as a mentor by the openSUSE team.
I assume other potential mentors need to do the same.
The process is:
One - create a profile as an individual and accept the legalese
Two - Apply to be a mentor with openSUSE.

I would enjoy my approval as mentor for the colour management cross distro project I proposed at openSUSE. The student proposal submitting already began, as well as the discussions around that future project with students. kind regards Kai-Uwe Behrmann -- developing for colour management www.behrmann.name + www.oyranos.org Am 28.03.11, 15:04 -0400 schrieb Greg Freemyer:
