[opensuse-project] Core Teams and OBS
Hello, In the GNOME team, we currently trying to come up with a way to set the bugowner so that the GNOME Core Team gets notified when bugreports are created. The only way I can see this be done, is to create a Novell account, an email account and then add rules to forward incoming emails to people in the Core Team. Although possible, it is a bit inconvenient to have the above dummy accounts. It'd be nice if we: * In users.o.o, the Team Owner, could create a group that gets assigned an email address (ie, gnome-maintainers@opensuse.org), and add members to this group. The group is basically a mailinglist * In OBS, groups created in users.o.o can be used as bugowner I thought of creating a FATE request for it, but it touches users.o.o, OBS and the mailinglist infrastructure so not sure if we need 1 or 3 requests for it. Comments? Cheers, Magnus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

You probably should know that bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com exists... Its just that it gets so much bugreports every GNOME developer seems to have unsubscribed or just filters it to /dev/null. Won't work. It gets mails that are private stuff (for SLED and other things). So we need something else for openSUSE. Ok But whow would you fix the responsibility issue... Someone needs to feel responsible for a bug in the end, a list cannot submit bugfixes. ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Sure, but people should be on this list. I have no idea who is on bnc-team-gnome at the moment, but I expect the openSUSE GNOME list to be handled differently (and to receive less stuff, also). Note that I do look at the openSUSE GNOME bugs via the bugzilla interface. Not every day, for sure. And I agree it's far from being handled correctly. FWIW, if we just go the current way, we'll have all bugs assigned to Magnus or me (not sure what's the current status) and there'll be no way to differentiate bug mails that I really need to receive (because I'm working on the bug, or I'm NEEDINFOed) from bug mails that we should triage. Which is really the worst situation for me. KDE bugreports, as long as nobody reassigns them to their personal bugzilla account, are owned by kde-maintainers@suse.de (that is, internal Novell KDE people). Community people can watch this bugzilla account (Bugzilla->Preferences->Email Preferences->User Watching) and get copies of all mails. I think it will be a problem for you soon, since they (can't remember who) wants to make the bug owner of each project mandatory and the KDE projects I checked don't have one at all. And you can't do it without the dummy accounts I explained. Sounds very much that you are another group that needs this: https://features.opensuse.org/306571 Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE.
