[opensuse-project] Merchandise articles for openSUSE
Hi, find below a status update and backround info on what Robert and myself currently working. And let's start discussion about what to offer in a shop.openSUSE.org. I'd suggest to keep the sortiment at the beginning small. I'd suggest to start with a 3-5 branded items which could be: - a black t-shirt - a cap - a mug - sticker (provided shop offer that) - pin/button (provided shop offer that) Status: We plan to offer merchandise stuff to anybody interested in. As we are not professional in providing such stuff and have budget constraints we need a vendor doing that for us. The vendor needs to offer shipment to EMEA + NA and the best scenario would be world wide shipment. We found cafepress.com offering that, registered a openSUSE shop there (http://www.cafepress.com/openSUSE - filled currently with one sample product) and need to brand the shop and set up a first set of products offered there. We recently found spreadshirt.net offering a similar service but more feature rich for a shopkeeper and offered in different languages but currently they don't ship to NA. I asked them this week if they plan to ship to NA. So, we wait for an aswer by spreadshirt. If they will offer NA shipment as well we tend to start our shop there. I got a cute penguin sitting on top of my monitor, which I got from SuSE time ago. It's labeled "open:source factory". - -- Cheers, Carlos E. small sticker (size of the PC logos), that's one inch diameter max. last I had my daugther stole it for it's cellular phone. It's very cheap, can be set anywhere... we could alos use lot of stickers of medium size saying "N'utilisez pas de logiciel piraté, utilisez des logiciels libres (signé openSUSE)" I'm unsure of the translation of "piratés", may be: "Don't use cracked applications, use free software (signed openSUSE) I had time ago lots of sticker with only the first part (don't use craked applications), I spread them all over my high school... (the following was implied :-)) (couls also say "fight piracy... use openSUSE and free sofware") jdd -- http://www.dodin.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

When I worked at SuSE (as it was at the time), we did two different sizes of Geeko - I have both sizes - photo of them both (with my Ximian Rupert monkey) at http://gallery.jamesthevicar.com/images/jpg/geekos.jpg I also have an old SuSE mug with the weird 3D design from the box of circa 5.2 on it - maybe we could do retro S.u.S.E/SuSE/SUSE merchandising :) -- James Ogley james@usr-local-bin.org http://usr-local-bin.org GNOME for openSUSE: http://software.opensuse.org/download/GNOME:/ Help end poverty: http://oxfam.org.uk/in --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Yes!
+1 Old trademark would be one of my target, but it should be dominant. Itty bitty cameleon without some humorous message would not cut for the money on a sample. -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

A plush geeko is vital, really. Hehe, I was the one giving those geekos out at linux fest north west :) you'd be surprised just how many people coming through had "daughters who would love one"... :D If we had some way to buy those things online, I think people'd jump at the chance.

Shipping overseas is not cheap. The price on sample coffee cup is already high, adding shipping will make it even worse.

I guess that they are looking for partner(s) overseas. They probably need some time to get offer(s). BTW, the sample coffee cup design is too simple, some funny quote can make it look much better. I would call guys that read this list to give a hand and add some quotes to http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:My_motto that can be used on merchandise. -- Regards, Rajko. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

I proposed to them a vendor for europe, may be NA. BUT for many objects, it's possible to make them locally from a pattern so a partial solution should be to show artworks fitted for some sorts of objects mugs, T-shirts can be printed, stickers also for cd/dvd it's already mor difficult, but at least lightscribe patterns should be available and printed ones jdd -- http://www.dodin.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
