We're working on distributing more demo DVDs, but free mail order as Ubuntu does it is very cost prohibitive. What I'd like to offer very soon is an inexpensive way to order the DVD or live CDs. More on that shortly, I hope.
Sell it in a paper sleeve, at costs. Let people pick between the live CDs and the DVDs. Pick the shipping method, quantity and give them a (hopefully small) quote. Even if it does work out at 5-10 dollars, it's not too bad when you consider the fact that they already need the hardware to run it. If I could order a dozen copies for a reasonable prices (I imagine they'd have to be shipped together) I'd be doing right away -- and give them to people with a casual interest in trying Linux. There's something nice about a professionally "printed" CD / sleeve.
