openSUSE Board election time is approaching and we are looking for volunteers to form the Election Committee. Based on our interpretation of the rules 4 seats are up for grabs but this will have to be confirmed by the Election Committee. Obviously those considering running for a board position should not be part of the committee.

The responsibilities of the committee are as follows:
+ Defining how many seats are up for election + Define the mix of one and two year term seats + Create a schedule for the elections + Handling and verifying of candidate nominations + Work with candidates to get candidate information posted + Collaborating with the Membership Officials to ensure that membership applications are processed in time + Checking and testing of our voting setup before the real voting + Validating the election results + Resolving any post-results issues + Announce results and post them to the wiki
We had a number of elections previously and thus you can piggy back on work that has been done in previous years. This is very important to the project, if you are not considering to be a candidate for the board please consider to volunteer on the committee. It is a limited time "position" (until shortly after the election results are posted), but is a great way to provide a valuable contribution.
