Thank you, everyone. I now have a deeper understanding of the origins of KDE and will use [https://www.KDE.org/ <abbr title="KDE® Community">KDE</abbr>] as my choice of wiki html code for an explanation of the acronym. I did find it interesting that https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDE#Origins reports that "K Desktop Environment (KDE) was founded in 1996 by Matthias Ettrich, who was then a student at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen."
