There are of course many different types of users. Clearly many users just want to install once and use the same thing for 10-15 years without anything ever changing - for others 8 months is far too long without version numbers increasing. So it's about balance.
Fedora users are forced to upgrade every 13 months. For openSUSE currently it's 18 months. With a 12 month cycle _maybe_ that would be increased to 24 months - so not that much difference - assuming the lifetime would be increased at all.
So, we agree that there's fragmentation on the user base; and it's somehow 'common sense' to believe that we need to know and understand our user base, so we can take the proper calls on situations like this, correct?
The big question is... "how do we do that ?"...
Tumbleweed and Evergreen :^) and both are working for me
Traditionally this answer should be provided by Marketing, correct? So what can Marketing do for us? (or should we just jump in big and bad based on 'assumptions' ?)
I don't believe any requirements for marketing information is necessary as Tumbleweed and Evergreen cover/blanket exceptions to users outside of <current> with note that some would like Evergreen to last longer.... -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
