It is actually quite easy to do. The reason it appears to be complex is because it is not documented and nobody did it publically before (well, except if you watch the livecd project really closely). I think it is really easy with the buildservice to create "spinoffs" or "openSUSE flavors", so there could be a "latest GNOME" flavor of openSUSE 11.2 being created automatically. In a future life when I have more time I would also like to create a "latest KDE" flavor based on the latest released openSUSE base distro.
