Independed on the schedule, I think it's a good idea to discuss what features we do for the next release. The systemd discussion on opensuse- factory already lead to this webpage: http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Goals_12.3
If we are moving towards systemd why not cease the console-kit dependency, or at least start porting things towards systemd and use its facilities rather than the dead project as I understand console-kit is history or going in that direction
Just because RH abandoned it does not mean that is is dead or going away any time soon. There are many Linxu distros which do not use systemd, the BSDs and Solaris which is also invested in CK.
Then openSUSE should not bother to change to systemd as well with this logic and BSDs or Solaris are not openSUSE projects or have they become and I missed it. Even Arch is now switching to systemd and they are a rolling release AFAIK. In one mailinglist there is the discussion of dropping sysv-init for the next release in another there is the discussion of should tumbleweed be the rolling release or should we have 12.3. or 13.1 or whatever, yet my understanding is if it is a rolling release than it is the latest-greatest mumbo jumbo and that means phasing out old concepts and introducing the future. All I am saying is if the idea/goal whatever word you want to use for the next release is to use systemd as the only approach then we should seek the ways to use systemd native approches instead of console-kit, and I do realize it's not let's switch over yet the question for me is valid are we half hearted do systemd or full.
