1) To experiment with the list a bit, and to see how folks would react to the topic-- ie., to find out whether the post would get blasted out of the water, or whether the article would motivate discussion that would indicate that this type of post would be welcome. The purpose was not to cause trouble, nor was it to irritate anyone--- just to see if Rajko's suggestion would work here.
I wonder if you experiment with people in real life too by trying to see how they react to your provocative claims. It sounds unfair to me and I hope it was just a wrong choice. Next time you want to know a community, just become a member of it for some time and see how it works.
