I was not talking about users per se, but about contributions.
I see. To get more people testing and solving bugs, or doing some packaging the basic idea would be to create jobs that can be done following written instructions (scripts). Instructions should not presume user skills and experience, just common sense and ability to communicate. Our current documentation about both OBS and Bugzilla is seldom of that kind. Jobs should not take more then a hour. Shorter is better. Everyone was following some script at some point in time and learned along the way. Writing scripts is time consuming, but without them entrance threshold for new contributors is high, so very few will have enough skills and motivation to pass it. For the beginning we should separate few tasks that require max an hour to accomplish for the first time contribution in a certain area. For instance, how to search and/or verify bug report for graphic cards [1]. Something, like this: AMD graphics bug confirmation: * We will search bugzilla using advanced screen [default screen with marked Search]. * This is how interface should be set up [setup screenshot]. * First we are looking for problems with graphics [search field screenshot] * This is what bugzilla will show if there is any [found bug screenshot], and this when it is missing [no bugs screenshot] * ... and so on. That "so on" should not spread over 10-20 screens because that will take an hour to read. Intention is to have reading and verifying within 1 hour. While I can take time and create couple of scripts for bugzilla, somebody else should do that for OBS. Who is that "somebody else"? Most likely the one that needs more testers and packagers.
