Documented yes. But we also need to work on making that page simpler and friendlier for the masses. It's starting to become a rather unfriendly page as it is. Perhaps use upgrade.opensuse.org to do a very simple hand-holding walk-through scenario that fits the most average non-expert user, and then add a link in that page "For more expert options, see here" to another page that can have all the amazing different scenarios and whatnot.
