Why would you have to downgrade? you can keep all the packages you ever downloaded and installed. Not having the repository only stops you from installing stuff from there - not from using the stuff. If you consider KDE important enough on an Evergreen installation, I'd advocate to get into the Evergreen update and actually MAINTAIN those packages.
