Hi The idea was to add the projects which were not taken up last year. Also, as we might not find mentors for all the projects (and some mentors were not available), I left the option for people, who are willing to mentor for those projects to add themselves to the list.
While submitting the application to Google, I will remove the projects on the ideas page that do not have any mentors.
I actually thought it would be easier to come up with more ideas, but as I dig around it seems like everything is so complete it's hard to come up with any that haven't already been done and implemented. I'll try a little harder over the next couple of days.
What would you say our current ratio of mentors to students is?
That would be 1:1 or even 2:1 But to make the competition stiffer, Google actually makes sure that 1 in 3 students is selected
Which is completely understandable, but you have to feel bad for those students who don't get to participate. I think we could use more mentors out there and that's one of my goals after graduation. Students at my university are always clamoring for more mentors but there seems to be a lack of people willing to do it. -- God bless !
