Perhaps. But it has not been documented that users of the other server should migrate. And if we have to migrate, it is not enough to document, it has to be announced as well, in the media we use. Indeed, I asked once if I should migrate, and I was told that all the servers were equal, that there was no need.
I've taken your feedback to the people responsible.
Thanks.
In the future, you now know that if you experience problems, you should check to make sure you're using the proper server. While the two involved NNTP servers are used to back each other up, the intention is that openSUSE and SUSE users use forums.opensuse.org/forums.suse.com and the Novell/NetIQ users use forums.novell.com.
Not documented.
That's why it's documented that way.
It is not documented that users of one forum should not use the other server. Only that one server is named now. If the intention is that each server is the backup of the other, this has to be documented. If there is an scheduled maintenance job, it has to be announced to both the main server and backup server, using a medium that the users affected (of all news feeds) will read. And this was not done, it was announced only via web to one of the forums, and perhaps to one of the feeds.
Nor it is excuse for the contact page not appearing in the search results of our search - and that is indeed a problem for this project mail list. I had to use google to find it.
Given that the change was made 2 years ago, it seems reasonable to assume that if you're accessing the *Novell* forums, you'll look on the *Novell* pages, not the openSUSE pages.
No, you don't understand. This thread was not intended to ask about the forum problem, it was intended as to handle why the opensuse.org web page search box is incapable of finding the contact web page for the project! Why do we have so a useless search box! Can something be done about that? And as a side issue, I asked if somebody could perhaps tell me where to inform about my issue, as I could not find that page. And somebody did. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
