If the homepage was, as Ubuntu's is, similar to google but with some openSUSE branding, I wouldn't even consider changing it. When I had Ubuntu installed I didn't think about changing the home page.

Why not Microsoft Bing? Then make a small nod to the MS - Novell deal and opensuse will be on all the hater web again! =) In a more serious tone I agree with Martin here, most of us use google even though we are not really comfortable with their power, why not make a branded wikipedia search?
