To properly handle GPT disk labels, we need a tool that can write them (parted) and a boot manager that understands them (grub2). Luckily, the filesystem limits are a little farther.

Not that simple, IMO. You also need mount tools to be able to read them, so that mount by label in fstab works. The udev system would have to display them in /dev/disk/, too. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
