hi i setup oracle9ias infra and ias in /opt/oracle directory. it has own jdk installations. while i setup suse i dont choose java installations. i donwloaded jdk1.3.0_02 from java.sun. it has .bin extension how can i run it? and does suse include suitable version (above) in setup cd s best regards

Become root using sux. Then # sh java_source.bin

SuSE includes a version of Sun Java 2 in /usr/lib/SunJava2. Use it, e.g., with /usr/lib/SunJava2/bin/java file.class You can also change the symbolic link (see man ln) in /usr/lib/java to point to /usr/lib/SunJava2 or put /usr/lib/SunJava2/ in your path. The version of Sun Java in SuSE 8.2 is 1.4.1. This should be OK though I've seen some oracle apps that won't work with it and need 1.3.1_02.
