Fwd: Library missed - who can help?
To all experts, I tried to install NS-2 (not so important what that is), an older version (ns-allinone-2.1b7a) under Suse 9.1. Whilst, the following occurs: "/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i586-suse-linux/3.3.3/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lintl collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [nsr] Error 1" Does anybody know how to fix that? Does anybody know how to fix that?
In general, use the YaST2 package selection's search feature and search in
"provides:" (make sure you check that option there) for "libintl".
But I admit I couldn't find that "libintl" there, either.
Did you "configure" your sources newly (invoke "./configure") since migrating
to SuSE 9.1? I suspect you didn't and some older version of a "configure"
script had determined you'd need that lib, but now it may be obsolete.

Hi Stefan, thanks for your fast reply! I had that idea too and I run ./configure manually before trying to "make" the code and it made no difference. But your comment got me the right hint. There was still an config.cache file. I deleted it and now I am able to proceed. Unfortunately, directly into next errors. Will see whether I can fix them or not. Thanks and have a nice day, Thomas
