I have Suse 8.2 and a USRobotics 5610B modem and the system will not dial. How can I manually dial thru this modem? Thanks Walt __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! SiteBuilder - Free, easy-to-use web site design software http://sitebuilder.yahoo.com

There is a terminal program called "minicom" that will let you dial manually. It may not be installed with the default 8.2 install, but it is on your discs. Also have you tried going into the Control Center and setting up the modem? If this is an external hardware based modem, SuSE should see it nicely off the serial port. If you are trying to use it from a USB port, you may find it difficult to use. if you use wvdial you can: Modem = /dev/ttyS4 in your wvdial.conf or you can rm /dev/modem ln -s /dev/ttyS4 /dev/modem -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- MartNet InterNet Services 99.9% pure http://www.martnet.com On Mon, 22 Sep 2003, walt wrote:
