Forget doing it in KDE, you are proably better off getting to the root of the problem and changing your console and X keymap. First you need the correct keymap. If you don't have it, then maybe a search with google on the web will produce it. When you have the correct keymap, you need to switch to root and drop it in /usr/lib/kbd/keymaps/mac/ Then, change your /etc/X11/XF86Config file (this assumes you are using X 4.0x). At the end of the "Input Device" section, add this line: Option "XkbDisable" Now, in a terminal type loadkeys <name of your keymap> You should find that pressing tab completes the keymap name for you. This command gives you the correct keymap in console mode. Test it by switching to a console. press APPLE CONTROL F6. You can get back to X windows with APPLE CONTROL F7. Now restart X at the login screen and because you have disabled the X keymap, it will default to the console keymap. When you reboot, you should see in your messages, that the new keymap is being recognised as the default one. If not, then contact me. It took me w hile to figure it out and I can't remember correctly right now. Better to go through it with you. Anyway, that's how I got my japanese keymap working. good luck Joss -- http://www.josswinn.org/PGP_key.html
