Hello,
has anyone got anti-aliased fonts working with SUSE 7.1PPC?
No I haven't done this yet. But I did this with my desktop PC and therefore I'm familiar with the problems you might come across.
I have qt-2.3.1 and X 4.1.0 but can't get aa fonts.
That are the right preconditions. However if your graphic chip doesn't support AA you're lost. Do 'xdpyinfo' in an xterm and see whether there is RENDER among the list of extensions. The next pitfall is that qt might not be compiled with the -xft option. I don't know how to check this, but try 'ldd libqt.so' and see whether it lists libXft then I guess everything is enabled. But I might be wrong on this one. Are you using KDE? In newer version (>= 2.1) the ControlCenter has an option to enable AA. You also could try to enable AA by defining the environment variable 'export QT_XFT=1'. HTH, -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Marcus Raitner Lst. Thank you. I just got AA fonts working today. I found that I had to type export QT_XFT=1 into a terminal and then from the terminal start KDE applications. How do I set it up so it works automatically every time I log in? Can I put the export line somewhere so that it is recognised when I log in? thanks Joss
