LILO PPC/hfsutils disk corruption problem
Hi, I have noticed HFS directory damage problem after using LILO, which, in turn, uses HFS utils to copy data to HFS partition. To verify that, I have checked 32MB HFS boot partition with Norton and Disk First Aid, restarted to Linux, and run LILO PPC several times (LILO configured with "copy" option to copy 3 kernels to HFS boot partition). After that, I have restarted back to MacOS 9.1 and checked HFS partition with Norton, which reveals nasty directory damage. Doing almost the same (copying several large files several times with cp command to the same HFS partition mounted in read-write mode) resulted no problems, partition was OK. PS. HFS boot partition defined in fstab as auto-mount read-only. I believe this is not a reason of damage. ******************************************************** * Best Regards --- Andrei Verovski * * e-mail --- andrei.verovski@bigfoot.com * * * * Personal Home Page * * http://homepage.mac.com/macgurutemple/ * * Mac, Linux, DTP, Development, IT WEB Site * ********************************************************
