Thus: no X server and I don't know how to solve the problem: the lib files seem not to have been installed properly, there is no /etc/XF86Config file

BTW I updated with Yast1

I think yast1 cant handle the package renames and leaves the old packages installed. Was there any special reason why you did not use yast2? It should handle that much better.
