[opensuse-ppc] X won't load on new install on G4 w/Rage 128
Hello, New install on PPC G4 Mac (Digital Audio) with a Rage 128 Pro 16MB video card; can't get X to load; looking at log file, it finds and identifies the gpu correctly, but gives the following errors: (EE) Unable to find valid frame buffer device; (EE) R128(0); Failed to open frame buffer device, consult above...; (EE) Screen found but none have a usable config. I tried changing the default driver "ati" to "r128". I had the same problem. I also tried 'vesafb' (recommended by someone on the suse irc channel) which it couldn't even find. I also tried adding Load "dri" in Modules as per this link: http://en.opensuse.org/PowerPC_X11_configuration. Still no joy. I know the hardware is good and I am pretty sure that the driver should be r128. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Your /etc/X11/xorg.conf has probably a BusID line. Remove that line and try again. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org
