js20 kernel update to 145 failed
Hi list, ... after the latest SLES9 (ppc64) kernel updates from 2.6.5-7.111.19 to 2.6.5-7.145 on an IBM js20 (blade) and a reboot , uups , the system won't come up ?!... ------------------------------------------------------------ Elapsed time since release of system processors: 0 mins 13 secs Config file read, 213 bytes Config file error: Syntax error near line 2 in file yaboot.cnf Syntax error or read error config Welcome to yaboot version 1.3.11.SuSE Enter "help" to get some basic usage information boot: : Unable to parse boot: ------------------------------------------------------------ As help and to see the system again i did this: Booted into rescue mode and back to the disk. Changed the yaboot.cnf manually. In yaboot.conf line 2 there is : parameter= This is wrong. Now my theorie is, that maybe in /etc/lilo.conf is something .. lets say, not so good. Or maybe the script /sbin/lilo has a bug. Until now i located /sbin/lilo as evil baby and changed the following lines : --------------------------- /sbin/lilo ----------------------- # starting the work and write the yaboot.conf { echo "# header section" echo "# partition = ${yaboot_part##*:}" --------------------------- /sbin/lilo ----------------------- Now it works fine. Anyone ever seen this ? Any good idea how to fix it permanently (without misusing the rescue cd all the time ..) regards

You may have 'unusual' hardware, please send the compressed outout from '/sbin/lsprop -R /proc/device-tree/ | gzip -cv9 > /tmp/x.gz' to the list.
