Re: [suse-ppc] Re: PowerMac and SuSE Powermac Router
Christian, Thanks to the responses I've been getting on this list, I've become aware of the things I've missed in this project. As you and others have mentioned, I need to learn more about Masquerading and iptables. I'm also going try Douglas' suggestion of DHCP. Am I correct in understanding that Netfilter is automatically built into the kernel, or does it need to be configured? Is there any way to check that it exists? I just want to make sure because, with the exception of iptables and Masquerading, I seem to have much of the other issues resolved (ip addresses, domain name servers addresses, ip forwarding on, etc.) Best Regards, Erik -- _______________________________________________ Talk More, Pay Less with Net2Phone Direct(R), up to 1500 minutes free! http://www.net2phone.com/cgi-bin/link.cgi?143

No, most Linux distributors build their default kernels with netfilter "switched on". Certain parts of netfilter may have been built as kernel modules.
to check that it exists?
Have a glance at "man iptables"... ;-) Regards, Christian -- Allen ist das Denken erlaubt. Vielen bleibt es erspart.
