Christian, Thanks to the responses I've been getting on this list, I've become aware of the things I've missed in this project. As you and others have mentioned, I need to learn more about Masquerading and iptables. I'm also going try Douglas' suggestion of DHCP. Am I correct in understanding that Netfilter is automatically built into the kernel, or does it need to be configured? Is there any way to check that it exists?
