Re: [suse-ppc] Installation problem (root image not found)
I have strange problem with SuSE 7.1 PPC.
When I try to upgrade already installed 7.0 from 7.1 CD, I am always get message "valid root image not found". I have checked path to /suse/images/root, the root file is there. CD-ROM is spinning, and CD1 is mounted (after all, I am started Mac from this CD).
Can you check console 3+4 for some kernel and linuxrc messages? Maybe it can not access the CD for some reasons.
Hi, Olaf, Thanks for suggestion. I have hacked CD#1 for ReiserFS support, so 7.1 have been installed succesfully on ReiserFS root volume. I had to revert back to XFRee 4.01 because my xf86config with acceleration enabled does not work with 4.02 on Apple iBook FireWire (summer 2000 model), and using sax2 in automatic mode produces garbled screen. How about to create special directory with working xf86configs, Apple have very limited number of portables and desktops? Monitor resolution/refresh may be adjusted later. PS. How I can contribute some my RPMs to SuSE PPC? Just tired to e-mail them. with best regards Andrei Verovski
