Hi, I installed SuSE 7.2 on a iMac dark blue transparent case Normally with SuSE 7.1 on a PC I can let the computer open the whole weekend without problem. Linux is a very stable O.S. On a iMac it is not the case. When I came back at work this morning, impossible to wake up my station: I could push any key on my keyboard, jerk my mouse, even push the reset button on the right side of the iMac box: nothing. The only solution: take off electrical plug. Did somebody on the ppc list have the same problem and know how to ressuscitate an iMac? Nein, nein, nein,,, dafuer gibt es ja RPMs, um sich nicht selbst um Pfade kuemmern su muessen (wohin installiert 'make install'?), Patches sind schon drin und man kann das ganze sauber wieder deinstallieren. Am einfachsten geht das kompilieren mit zB rpm --rebuild ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/ppc/7.1/suse/zq1/dhcpcd.spm Das fertige Paket liegt dann in /usr/src/packages/RPMS/ppc. Bei einem bereits installierten Source-RPM (rpm -hiv ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/ppc/7.1/suse/zq1/dhcpcd.spm) kann man mit rpm -bb /usr/src/packages/SPECS/dhcpcd.spec das RPM bauen. Siehe man page fuer weitere Optionen. Dabei ist zu beachten, dass alle zum Kompilieren noetigen Werkzeuge installiert sein muessen. Auf jeden Fall muessen alle Pakete installiert sein, die in der Zeile #neededforbuild im spec file stehen (/usr/src/packages/SPECS/*), und viele aus der #usedforbuild-Zeile.
