Hi, I've just updated to suse 7.1, with the 2.2.18 kernel. I've got an iMac 350 (slot-loading) with 320 MB RAM. Suse is on a 2.5 GB partition, Mac OS 9.1 & 10.0.1 are on a 4 GB hfs+ partition. I've tried running MOL (version 0.9.53 from the Suse 7.1 disks) but it always fails to startup. I usually don't mind hacking around to get to root of the problem, but now I'm finding that MOL is causing kernel panics about half the time I run it, and it's no longer fun. Is this normal? I guess MOL needs low-level system access to work, but if it's going to be crashing my system I may as well just boot into Mac OS 9.1. Maybe I should just give up on MOL for the time being? -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Andrew Dabrowski | Lueckenlos ist die Welt, doch SE 117 5-5470 | zusammengehalten ... von den Verschwundenen. dabrowsa@indiana.edu | Sie sind ueberall. -Enzensberger

You might want to try the latest MOL 0.5.7. It is supposed to be much more stable with OS 9.1 and generally mch improved. However, the RPM was built against kernel 2.4.3, so the SUSE mol modules do not load. There may be a way to get around it without changing your kernel, but I don't know how. I tried building the source but it came back with an error. Something about not be able to find 'bison', if I remember correctly. Joss -- http://www.josswinn.org/humour.html
I did try MOL 0.9.57 - I got the rpm for kernel 2.2 from the MOL website. That also caused kernel panics. Joss Winn wrote:

OS 9.1 doesnt work very well with earlier versions than 0.9.58. OS X seems to boot but you can not login. I will provide an update next week. Gruss Olaf -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...
