Problems Installing Suse 7.3 on a Umax S900
Hello All. I'm trying to install Suse PPC 7.3 on a Umax s900, and am having trouble. The configuration is as follows: Umax s900 mainboard Apple 604e/133 (Also tried Railgun G3 300) 512KB cache 80MB ram (16 onboard + 2x 32MB dimms, interleaved) adaptec 2940UW PCI slot B ATI xclaim VR 4MB PCI slot A IBM 2.1GB wide SCSI, ID 0 on adaptec, MacOS 9.1 Seagate ST39173LW U2W scsi, ID 1 on adaptec, 100MB macos simple, 128mb swap, 8.4gb root/ext2 Toshiba XM-5701B 12X cdrom drive Floppy I downloaded the files from the Suse ftp, install-oldworld and bootx. Installed bootx, chose install-oldworld as the kernel file, and boot linux Linux starts, loads the installer, and I start install using FTP. It downloads the packages for Yast, and gives me dialogue where I can choose Yast or Yast2 i can choose either one, but for both it goes throught the loading screen, then gives me an error: "An Error Occurred During Installation!" If I change processes, I get the following on #3 OK, going to mount 0.0.0.0:/cdrom ... auto2_net_dev:438 NFS Mount Failed auto2_find_install_medium:754OK, that didn't work; see if we can activate anoth er network device... Loading of rootimage returns 0 Mounting of inst-sys returns 0 sh: /sbin/syslogd: input/output error sh: update: command not found starting "/usr/lib/YaST2/bin/Yast2.start " sh: /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/YaST2.start: No such file or directory /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/YaST2.start return code is 32512 (errno = 4) and on process 4, i get kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-105, errno = 5 I don't know what I'm doing wrong.
